While I was doing some work on the high voltage section of my Hewlett-Packard 150A oscilloscope, the heating element of my Hakko 802 desoldering handpiece (attached to a 470B pump unit) became clogged with solder. During my attempt to remove the clogged solder, I broke the connections between the heating element and the lead-in wires. This video shows how I replaced the heating element in the 802 handpiece, effectively upgrading it to an 809 handpiece. I repaired it back in December of 2020 and almost four years later it's still working well.
